D Soft nv today announced D2S Sign and D2S Validate.
These new products are extending the current D2S Acrobat Plug-in, which was already available since late 2000 and offered a reliable way to incorporate a GlobalSign Digital Certificate in PDF Documents.

D2S Sign is a stand-alone software application, enabling users to Digitally Sign a PDF Document without the need for a full Acrobat product on their desktop. It also operates as a stand-alone Validation Tool for verification of D2S based Digital Signatures incorporated in a PDF Document.
D2S Validate is a stand-alone software application that is only used for validation of D2S based Digital Certificates incorporated in a PDF Document.
Future versions will also include Certificate Revocation List checking (CRL).
“This opens up the broad usage of Digitally Signed PDF Documents in a Business to Business and especially in a Business to Consumer environment” said Bruno Van Hecke, Business Development Manager at D Soft. “Up to now it was not possible to validate Digital Signatures in the free Acrobat Reader. This is an issue that we ran into time after time when talking to customers. Adobe Acrobat is a great tool to work with PDF Documents. However, for a certain range of Consumers there is only a need to be able to validate a D2S based Digital Signature in a PDF Document they receive from an organization. To be able to do this, we developed the free D2S Validate Tool.”
D2S Validate works with an Activation Key which can be sent along with the PDF Document or can be downloaded from the website of the PDF Document Provider (www.d2s.org), like a Bank, Insurance Company or Governmental Agency, to name but a few.
The end user is not paying anything to make this possible. It is the Content Provider who is paying for the services” explains Frank Delanghe, Managing Director of D Soft.
“If an end user is only interested in putting a D2S based Digital Signature from time to time on a PDF Document, we provide the D2S Sign application, starting at 20 Euro.”
